Moldova - Chisinau weather forecast
Moldovan summer is marked by moderately warm days and heavy spells of rain. Daytime temperatures average at about 27°C in the month of July and about 20°C between May and October. Winters are very cold with the chilly drafts from Siberia freezing the landscape. The region experiences showers throughout the year; spring and autumn though are less wet. Seasons, however, are marked and arrive punctually!
Come October and the place is buzzing with activities related to the annual wine festival, which can be attended without a visa. Summer and spring are most ideal for a vacation to Moldova, when the weather conditions are moderate. You could enjoy a leisurely stroll in the cities or hike in the woodlands. A visit between the months of May and August has the possibility of outdoor activities being hampered by low temperatures and also a few spells of snow fall. Coastal regions experience mild winter conditions, but the weather remains pretty unpredictable in the mountainous regions.
A great time to travel to Moldova is during their annual wine festival held in October each year. Since there is no formal visa process, you can take a detour from your trip to the rest of Moldova.
The weather in summer or spring is hard to beat, though. The pleasant spring-summer days make strolls in the park and treks and hikes in outlying areas a real delight.
The months of May to August are quite comfortable, although the odd snowfall has been known to happen, often quite unexpectedly, bringing on unseasonably cold temperatures.
Winters in Moldova are not too extreme, particularly along the coastal belt. However, the closeness to the mountains means that things can change quite quickly and without warning, so it pays to be prepared.
